How IHI came to be
When we trained as hypnotherapists, we noticed something. Some courses were quick and shallow, a weekend and a certificate. Others were long on theory and short on what to actually say when a real human is sitting in front of you falling apart. Almost none of them dealt properly with trauma, which is wild, because trauma is underneath most of what clients bring us.
So we built the Integrative Hypnotherapy Institute: an online school that teaches the deep stuff safely, gives you scripts and structure for your first hundred sessions, and treats your training as the start of a relationship, not a transaction. Our students train live on Zoom from all over the world, and get lifetime access, ongoing supervision, and a community of practitioners who actually answer when you ask a question.
We're accredited by the International Medical & Dental Hypnotherapy Association (IMDHA), so the qualification you earn here is recognised in New Zealand, Australia, the UK, the US and across the English-speaking world.
Meet your trainers
Caroline Cranshaw
Caroline has been a clinical hypnotherapist for over 20 years and has worked with thousands of clients on just about every issue there is. She's the author of the Amazon bestseller The Smoking Cure: How to Quit Smoking Without Feeling Like Sh*t, spent years as the resident hypnotherapist on NZ radio, and co-hosts the WTF Stories & Advice podcast.
She trained in advanced clinical hypnotherapy, NLP and life coaching, holds a Certificate in Clinical Nutrition, and is a member of the NZAPH, IMDHA and ACHE. She specialises in parts therapy, addictions, weight loss and the kind of stubborn, tangled issues other approaches bounce off. She designed and wrote the IHI curriculum and still teaches most of it herself, usually with at least one story you won't believe is true. It is.
Daryl Gove
Daryl is widely considered the top hypnotherapy trainer in New Zealand, having trained hundreds of students. He runs a private Auckland practice and has been teaching clinical hypnotherapy and life coaching for over ten years. He co-hosts the WTF Stories & Advice podcast with Caroline and is working toward a Bachelor of Natural Medicine.
His specialist areas are working with children, families, anxiety, chronic pain and health conditions. Students single him out constantly, both for making complex material clear and for the calm, generous, unhurried way he holds space for people learning difficult work.
Grant Bodle
Grant is a co-founder of IHI — and also one of its first students, so he's a living example of what the training produces. A Clinical Hypnotherapist, qualified Nutritionist and Level 5 Personal Trainer, he runs his own Auckland practice specialising in weight loss, addictions and habit change, and is one of New Zealand's most experienced Virtual Gastric Band practitioners. He's also the reason IHI runs the way it does. Grant edits the class videos and the WTF podcast, prints and sends every manual, sets up every workshop, and runs the financials. Caroline and Daryl teach — Grant makes sure the whole machine actually works.
